This exciting body of work documents the story of Plashet School, in Newham, and the incredible women that fill its space.
Amongst the first hundred, an exceptional range of women participated. From Rachel McGowan, the current head teacher who has reached a ten year milestone and continues to create an exceptional space for the young women to thrive in and shares, "Through Plashet One Hundred we are excited to celebrate the success of generations of women." To the former head, Bushra Nasir CBE, Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz, to former students studying at Russell Group universities and at some of the highest ranking colleges and sixth forms.
This first century of stories consisted of future storytellers, writers, footballers, scientists, teachers, musicians, mathematicians, actors, and showcased the abundance of talent, aspirations and brilliance that fills Plashet School.
Following the magic of Plashet One Hundred, and the success of the exhibition in September, part two of this project has begun.
This will include a second century of stories from the young women within the school. A wider breadth of the school’s incredible alumni will also be featured, together with sharing the stories of women from all walks of life who inspire this community.
A short film, Plashet, Your Voice, will turn the volume to the words spoken by women from across the two century of stories.
